Riding Lessons

“A Foundation You Can Build on.”

Foundational Horsemanship – A strong, solid foundation of philosophy and training techniques that allows riders to build their skills.

Heather’s training philosophy has been steeped  in classical principles that are applied to working purposes.  Her lesson plans put classical training to use on cattle, obstacles or the trail allowing riders to create a better partnership with their equine friend.  From the first time on a horse to learning flying lead changes;  Heather offers an easy to understand and systematic approach to help riders reach their goals.

Opagon Farm proudly offers lessons in Cowboy, Western & Traditional Dressage and Working Equitation.  Heather seeks out instruction from the best in the industry and shares that knowledge with her students. Her experience as a judge and competitor allows her students to reach and often surpass their goals.   Contact Heather to learn about packages and services offered for competitive students.

coachingCowboy/Western/Traditional Dressage –  These lessons are designed for riders looking to improve their horsemanship on the flat. Riders will learn exercises to improve balance, timing of the aids and developing a connection with their horse.  Riders set goals and work towards developing a supple, confident and relaxed partnership. Coaching is available for those looking to showcase their skills in a competitive setting.

Working Equitation – This new and upcoming sport showcases riders skills in 4 phases: Dressage, Ease of Handling (obstacles), Speed (obstacles at speed) and Cattle (Group or individual work).  Working Equitation will challenge you and your horse to become better partners as it tests the skills needed to become a True All Around Horse.
